Improving Reporting Through Automation and Self-Service Analytics
Manual reporting processes were consuming significant time for both analysts and stakeholders. I redesigned the reporting workflow by introducing self-service dashboards, automated reporting templates, and data preparation improvements that reduced manual effort while empowering users to access information independently.
The Challenge
Stakeholders regularly requested performance statistics for individual web pages and campaigns.
Each request required an analyst to interrupt ongoing work, gather data manually, prepare customized reports, and distribute the results.
In parallel, recurring reporting required repetitive data collection, formatting, and validation across multiple platforms.
The existing process limited efficiency and reduced the time available for higher-value analysis.
My Approach
I focused on reducing manual effort while making information easier to access.
I designed several self-service dashboards covering different website content types, allowing stakeholders to retrieve performance data independently whenever they needed it.
To encourage adoption, I created demonstration videos, delivered walkthrough sessions, and remained available to answer questions and support new users.
I also redesigned the internal reporting process by developing reusable analytics templates and improving data preparation workflows using Power Query and AI-assisted automation. These improvements significantly reduced repetitive work while improving reporting consistency.
Key Contributions
Designed multiple self-service dashboards
Automated recurring reporting workflows
Developed reusable reporting templates
Streamlined data preparation using Power Query
Created user training resources and dashboard demonstrations
Results
Self-service reporting significantly reduced ad hoc reporting requests while giving stakeholders immediate access to the information they needed.
Internal reporting became faster, more consistent, and less prone to manual errors.
The improvements reduced report preparation time by approximately 40%, allowing more time to focus on analysis, interpretation, and strategic recommendations.
Lessons Learned
Automation is not about replacing people.
Its greatest value comes from removing repetitive work so people can focus on analysis, decision-making, and continuous improvement.
Well-designed self-service tools also increase confidence by giving stakeholders greater independence and faster access to information.
